Jamaican Sorrel Drink Recipe.
The natives, such as yellow wood sorrel, Oxalis corniculata, have yellow, not pink, flowers. Before serving, strain beverage to remove any waste, add rum, simple syrup, orange slices, and ice.
The presense of oxalic acid gives the plant a sour taste similar to the garden herb, sorrel, hence the name.
The dried flowers are used to make the drink. Let the water cool, pour it to the bowl, and put in a fridge overnight. What’s huge? It is considered an ‘herb-vegetable’ as it stands up to cooking similarly to other vegetables. Add sorrel, ginger, lime, cinnamon stick, and allspice berries, and let it boils once again.
